     Our OCCEA family is invited to register for unique advocacy and/or professional development learning experience at the 2022 OCCEA/NJEA Overnight at the Seaview, a Dolce Hotel, in Galloway Township.  The event will be held from the evening of Friday, May 13 through Saturday, May 14. The cost is $75.00 per member based on double occupancy. All reservations will be on a first-come-first-served basis. The fun-filled overnight begins with dinner and a Casino Night at the hotel.  NJEA and state of NJ COVID-19 protocols in place at the time of the event will be followed.

  

Seminars Offered

*Maximizing Your NJEA Member Benefits for the Summer-Uniserv 

This workshop will give participants a first-hand look at the exciting benefits they can put into action to save during the summer months.

 

*Salary Guides: The Importance of Cumulative Earnings-Uniserv Advocacy

Learn how salary guides are constructed and calculated with a focus on the importance of cumulative earnings. Member input and discussion of the district’s ability to pay will be discussed.

ACEs Part A and Part B

     Participants will be introduced to the neuroscience of how trauma impacts the brain. This workshop encourages a shift in the way we think about our students’ behavior and overall mental and physical health.

  Part B includes a discussion on the health and well-being of the school community–educators are urged to think collectively as leaders and advocates on a larger scale than the 4 walls of the school.

*CARE-Culture, Language and Economic Differences

* Understanding of how culture shapes identity, how culturally responsive teaching looks, and how teachers can effectively build upon students’ cultural identities to facilitate learning,

 

*AUTISM: Applying Useful Techniques & Instructional Strategies to Maximize Learning

With the increasing numbers of students identified with some sort of autism, classroom teachers and ESP personnel have many questions about autism and the various diagnoses. 

 

*ADD/ADHD for ESP

The laws regarding regulations regarding the role of paraeducators working with students with ADHD in delivering educational services, their professional development needs, and issues of supervision will be discussed.  Strategies, interventions, accommodations, and resources are included to help you help a child with ADHD succeed.
