As we enter the holiday season, COVID-19 is spreading uncontrolled in our state and our community. From the beginning of this pandemic, the health and safety of students, staff, and our community has been our priority. We know that over the Thanksgiving and winter holidays, many families in our school community will gather with large groups of friends and family or even travel out of state, which is likely to exacerbate the already high levels of infection in our community. To protect the safety of our students, their families, our school staff and our entire community, Lakewood schools should move immediately to all-remote instruction until at least January, when we can measure and assess the effects of holiday travel and gatherings.

Email Superintendent Laura Winters today. Urge her to implement virtual education in Lakewood schools at least until January, reopening for in-person instruction only when the current risk has subsided enough to make that safe. Nothing matters more than the health and safety of our students, our staff and our community and our schools should take the lead in helping to protect all of us.
